ABOUT LISA
I'm launching my writing career with my debut novel entitled 'Broken Toes'. Yet, whilst growing up, and even into my forties, I have never felt an ingrained desire to become an author.
Elizabeth Gilbert made me do it!
The inspiration for Broken Toes came whilst sat on a beach, enjoying a family holiday in 2019. It was one of those times where the clearest of thoughts appear, once we actually find time to just stop and be. The ideas from that week away never left me, and after delving into the advice and insight given by Elizabeth Gilbert in her book - 'Big Magic', I decided to share it all.
And so the 'project' began.
I have a deep rooted interest in the human condition. What makes us do what we do? What impact do single, individual moments have upon our lives and those of others? How much is actually out of our control?
I am drawn to reading stories that are real, gritty, and shed light on what makes people who they are. Stories that make us realise we are not alone. Books by Rachel Joyce, Gail Honeyman and Ruby Wax are amongst many others found on my bookshelves.
I live in Cambridgeshire with my husband, two teenagers and two dogs. My passion for dungarees, boots, and 1980's music, a regular source of embarrassment for my children. I'm sure they'll forgive me some day.....
